A magnificent feast
The aim of this project was to create a 200-seat restaurant within the restricted space of the Paul Hamlyn Hall Balcony a first-floor inner balcony, with breathtaking views of the stunning interior architecture of the magnificent Opera House.
KCCJ managed the entire project which included:
Existing counters were ripped out within the three week period of the summer shut-down. A minor delay while new floor finishes were laid meant a tight schedule to meet the deadline.
Bespoke hot, cold and beverage counters were manufactured with specialist granite tops and rimex fascias, serving as additional plating-up space for the chefs preparing meals for Opera House guests during the interval.
The Amphi Bar was refurbished with new carving and the addition of a feature display section.
Diners are able to enjoy a sumptuous dinner, with separate courses eaten pre-performance and during the interval.
Technologically-advanced commercial kitchen equipment, including combination ovens, specified and supplied by KCCJ, copes with production of high-quality food and beverages within very limited time scales, enabling the Royal Opera House to increase revenue at each performance.
