The British Library has a new operator in the form of a Very British Bakery - Peyton and Byrne
When a new catering company takes over an existing contract, they like to try and alter things to suit their style of operation, and make visual changes to create an impact on the customer base so that everyone is aware that things have changed, so it was with Peyton & Byrne when they took over at the British Library recently.
KCCJ were asked to carry out some alterations to two of the service counters in the public restaurant and add a fresh sandwich unit to the staff restaurant operation.
In the public restaurant they wanted to add a fresh pasta offer which was prepared to order in front of the customer, one of the hot counters was altered to accomodate this with a set down section created in the granite top to accept an electric pasta boiler and bain marie for the sauces, a section for a hot dish of the day was also added.
The hot beverage counter was also modified to provide an unobstructed pass through section for hot drinks service, with the fitting of a new section of granite counter top, all the works were carried out, out of hours for less than £10k.
