Bloomberg European HQ (London)
KCCJ AT BLOOMBERG
Working to designs and specifications put forward by leading design house Sefton Horn Winch (SHW), KCCJ set about reviewing the designs and service requirements in order to install the catering equipment in the newly opened- European headquarters of Bloomberg L.P. Spanning eight working floors, the installation required a main production kitchen, an events pantry, a training room pantry with a breakout area and counter, a back-of-house pantry and array of island beverage units, a finishing pantry which feeds a private dining room and a finishing kitchen for a second large-scale event space.
Bloomberg is a leading financial information and data firm and is open 24/7 for its 4,000 London-based staff. The main production kitchen is on the sixth-floor ‘pantry’ area, where staff and guests convene to meet, eat, drink and network. Two of its key features sit outside the main kitchen within the pantry area. KCCJ installed a smart, 15-metre ‘drinks wall’ which houses an array of coffee machines, soft-drink dispensers, boiling water taps and milk dispensers and four island beverage units which house iPad-operated coffee machines, hot and cold water and milk dispensers and shelving for an array of healthy snack items.
The production kitchen in the basement, services one of two large-scale events spaces, and is extremely well appointed with three Rational combi ovens, a six-ring induction hob with oven, a cook and hold oven, and a very large flexi-chef unit, all of which gives the head chef and his team the ability to cook just about anything.
The main challenge to KCCJ on the project was working alongside the construction teams and other contractors to a tight timeframe. Our ability to be collaborative and flexible throughout the installation phase to ensure, for example, that the mechanical and electrical services were provided where required, that the equipment was delivered to the right area at the right time, and having the experience to react at a moment’s notice to changes that could have been costly to the client, is really where KCCJ came into its own and the results speak for themselves.
