The Scottish Exhibtion and Conference Centre is the largest public event theatre in Scotland and have recently won an award for Best UK Conference Centre.
KCCJ were employed by KMB to design, supply and install catering equipment to serve the new public 138 cover Quay West Restaurant.
The purpose of the scheme was to offer the public using the rear of the building for entry halls 3 & 4, a competitively priced Cafe / Brasserie and Bar facility.
Being a full kitchen installation there was a need to provide state of the art ventilation system, to provide supply and extract for the cooking equipment, balanced to give the most comfortable conditions for the staff working in the area.
It was also important to keep the profile on the exterior of the building in line with the current building regulations. This was a challenge in itself as extract, supply fans and ductwork cowls had to be designed in such a way to be extremely low profile to look as if they were part of the original build and to stand out as little as possible above the roof line.
The programme for the works was extremely tight for all involved, we were expected to be flexible and required to work with the other sub contractors to make sure that the programme was completed on time and on budget. This was achieved.
The Client and catering staff have expressed, that they are very pleased with the equipment supplied and the installation carried out by KCCJ.
