Kitchen Server Counter

Envoplan

The supply and installation of a new server counter and back bar for the operators of a new office development, the works consisted of bespoke joinery stainless steel back bars column Casements.

The contract was turned around within 4 weeks from appointment and installed on site to the client’s satisfaction. KCCJ in house team produced the manufacturing drawings and constructed the works on site within the incredibly tight programme.

Commercial Kitchen Refurbishment

Mercers Hall

KCCJ were appointed principal contractor for the complete refurbishment of the commercial kitchen facilities at the historic Mercers Hall in London, a building with a long history dating back to 1370AD.

The works involved the complete strip out of the existing facilities including all equipment and services. There were structural changes to the layout of the building which posed a challenge as the facility was in full use by the client. Works to the structure involved the removal of internal walls to bring the layout of the area to a more usable space. As the areas were tight the plant room had to be installed above ceiling level which was achieved by the fitting of structural steel platforms to allow the installation of ventilation equipment and electrical services.

All new mechanical and electrical services were run from the incoming main services which were located in the basement, all the services had to rerouted through risers and new panels fitted to bring the installation up to current standards. This included the gas services with the installation of gas solenoid valves to protect the system. A new extract and supply ventilation system was fitted with roof mounted plant to supply the new ventilation canopy’s. New cat ladders and working platforms were installed to allow ease of maintenance and access to the new plant.

All internal finishes were installed including the use of hygienic cladding system to the walls, and within the kitchen area a new suspended ceiling provided a refreshed and clean look.

Planned works for maintenance were also carried out to the asphalt roofs by KCCJ and the replacement of several external windows and the forming of new structural openings to gain access to the external plant areas.

KCCJ were complemented on the running of the site in relation to the Health and safety as we were audited by the clients appointed CDM coordinator, as the principal contractor the construction phase H&S plan was maintained and updated by the onsite project management team.

The works were completed within the agreed programme of 7 weeks and on budget.

Government Building Refurbishment

Whitehall

Another challenge for the construction team was laid down by the client for the refurbishment and installation of a coffee bar within Whitehall government building, the works had to be completed over a weekend to minimize the disruption for the client and operator.

The works involved detailed surveying of the areas for the joinery to allow the offsite fabrication of the counters and benches. This allowed the installation team to carry out the fit out works in the minimum amount of time and less on site fabrication. The scope of works included a new front counter and back bar including the installation of mechanical and electrical services, also all the ancillary equipment to run the coffee bar.

All the services had to be re-routed from a central point to the new counters then run and tested in place all within the 48 hour period allowed. Again we succeeded in completing the works on time and within budget.

Our construction team stated that this was a difficult contract due to the amount of bespoke joinery and the tight time frame but forward planning and close liaison with the client helped us achieve the end result.
